Carbohydrate Enzyme Discovery for Biotechnological Applications
The focus of our research group is to understand how individual enzymes and enzyme systems act to alter the structure of complex polysaccharides in diverse biological contexts, ranging from plant cell walls to the human gut. The discovery and characterisation of new enzymes identified through genome and proteome mining brings both new functional insight, and further expands our toolbox for the improved use of renewable biomass resources and other biotechnological applications.
