Protein Evolution and Engineering
Research in the Tokuriki lab investigates experimental evolution (directed evolution or laboratory evolution) approaches to develop our knowledge of evolutionary mechanisms and dynamics. Using a high-throughput screening system, we will reveal how mutations affect protein fitness and explore how selection pressure shapes evolutionary trajectory. We will also develop platforms to engineer proteins and metabolic pathways in the laboratory.
